Our Story

Getting its start in 1996, this business has stood witness to a variety of scenarios, both good and bad, yet has continued to pursue its ultimate goal of providing the community with construction services that extend far beyond that of typical standards. PCI, along with its exceptional attributes, was started by Matt Tonn after graduating from college. Tonn moved to Gillette, Wyoming and started framing houses. This experience sparked his interest in the local home building market. Tonn borrowed $400, purchased the necessary tools, and began what would quickly become a highly successful corporation. His talent and knowledge of the industry have remained evident. In 2000, just four years after beginning Progressive Construction, Inc., Tonn earned the Northeast Wyoming Contractors Association’s “Contractor of the Year” title.

PCI was built on dedication and grit.
Enjoying undeniable and hard-earned prosperity has come through a fair share of hardships.

Through feast and famine this company has persevered and continued to grow and thrive. In the words of Matt Tonn, “Starting a business is easy. Sticking with it through the ups and downs is the hard part.” However, this is exactly what he has done. It is common in times of trials for business-owners to lose focus, change their priorities, and give up, but Tonn and the devoted employees of PCI demonstrate features of superior commitment and resilience.

Although PCI started out as a relatively small corporation doing mostly residential work, it has expanded over the years to master large commercial/industrial projects while holding on to the same mission. This company relentlessly strives to be and provide only the best conventional construction, incorporating many qualities that set it apart from other operating businesses. The central figure of Progressive Construction, Inc., Matt Tonn, adds a unique depth of expertise to the corporation’s overall operation through his education and experience. He has been a business-owner in Campbell County for 23 years, a time during which he has gained and fine-tuned a set of skills that are possessed by only a select few. Tonn also served for 5 years on the Campbell County Building Code Board of Appeals, giving him a distinctive knowledge of the local leaders and how to navigate through the bureaucracy. Matt Tonn is on the constant search for ways to edge out the competition and improve PCI as he regularly attends industry specific trainings that preserve and increase his skill and competence, and keeps current with new technologies, using those advances in day to day business.
